A Visit to the Institute of Mountain Hazards and Environment

A collaborative project about the mapping the disaster risk of along the Belt and Road between the Institute of Mountain Hazards and Environment (IMHE), Chinese Academy of Sciences and the CCOUC was formed in April 2018.

On 15 August 2018, Prof Emily Chan, CCOUC Director invited by Institute of Mountain Hazards and Environment (IMHE), to share her experience and insights on disaster health vulnerability and deliver a presentation entitled “Integrating Health Vulnerability Index with Natural Disaster Risk Index Results Discussion”.

During the presentation, Prof Chan talked about her unique insight in building up a health vulnerability index, summarizing the relevant research findings and potential knowledge gaps of disaster risk from a public health perspective. More than 20 key members of IMHE and postgraduate students participated in the presentation, which provided a valuable opportunity to connect with the top research institution in mainland China, and to enhance interdisciplinary research work.

After the sharing, CCOUC team also had a meeting Prof Peng Cui, Deputy Director of IMHE, to explore future collaborations.
