Asia-Pacific Housing Forum 6

CCOUC Director Prof Emily Chan participated as a speaker in the sixth Asia-Pacific Housing Forum organised by Habitat in Hong Kong on 6 September 2017.

The two-day forum is a biennial conference to bring together multidisciplinary policy-makers, academics, urban planners, architects, housing sector developers, non-governmental organisations, donor agencies, researchers, advocates, international organisations, social enterprises, technology companies and others to learn from each other about the latest global and regional housing regulations, initiatives and solutions being adopted. It aims to stimulate discussions on how the latest global initiatives—like Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and New Urban Agenda—can promote the development of stronger, smarter, local policies and nurture the development of sustainable communities and cities. It has attracted more than 3,400 participants from over 52 countries since 2007.

Prof Chan presented the health and climate change considerations in urban resilience and housing design and planning in the breakout session “Resilience and social development: Enhancing urban resilience through participatory design and planning” and exchanged with more than 50 participants from the Asia-Pacific region in the question and answer part.
