CCOUC won best paper award in the 12th Asia Pacific Conference on Disaster Medicine

A CCOUC paper entitled “Impact of Disaster Preparedness intervention in Yi minority community in Sichuan Province, China” co-authored by 5 members of CCOUC won the best paper award in the 12th Asia Pacific Conference on Disaster Medicine held in Tokyo, Japan from 17 to 19 September 2014. This is one of the research outputs of CCOUC’s flagship Ethnic Minority Health Project.

The conference first held in Osaka of Japan in 1988 is one of the key disaster- and emergency-related conferences in the Asia Pacific region.

In addition to academics, a variety of policy makers and frontline workers in the region will participate in the conference, including doctors, nurses, firemen, policemen, military personnel, public administration personnel, members of international organizations, and company managers and employees. They will share their opinions toward the research results and the experience of their respective countries and professions.

Another CCOUC paper entitled “Socio-demographic predictors for urban community disaster health risk perception and household based preparedness in Chinese urban city” will also be presented in the conference.

CCOUC delegation to the conference will also participate in the post conference workshop on disaster health research.
