Representing CCOUC, CUHK Centre for Global Health and CUHK JC School of Public Health and Primary Care (JCSPHPC), Dr. Tony Yung was invited to attend the 2nd meeting of the 3rd Executive Committee of Chinese Consortium of Universities for Global Health (CCUGH) held in Fudan University in Shanghai on 19 July 2018. CCUGH was formed in 2013 and is now a strong network of 24 universities in China including CUHK and other top universities like Peking University, Tsinghua University and Fudan University. It aims at consolidating the connection between different universities and serves as a platform for sharing resources relevant to the development of global health.
The meeting discussed 3 main agenda items. The first was about the collaboration with Consortium of Universities for Global Heath (CUGH) in the United States. It was agreed that CCUGH will participate in the 10th Annual Conference of CUGH in Chicago in March 2019. A panel session will be organised by CCUGH on the theme of either “Translational and Implementation Science” or “What Works/What Doesn’t Work: Examples of High Impact Development/Global Health/ Environmental Programs”. The second agenda was the discussion of renaming CCUGH for reason of its formal registration under the government. Before successful registration, it was agreed that the name Forum of Universities for Global Health (FUGH) will be used for future organisation of academic activities. The last agenda item was the planning of the next academic conference of FUGH. The two possible dates will be in November 2018 (organised by Kunming University) or early months of 2019 (organised by Fudan University). This will be confirmed upon the checking of availability by the two universities and approval by Chairman and Vice-Chairman of FUGH.
The participation in this meeting provides a valuable opportunity to connect with mainland universities and to cope with the pace of the development of global health study in China.
