Research Summit on Health-Related Emergency and Disaster Risk Management (H-EDRM)

 

Throughout several landmark UN agreements adopted in 2015-16, including Sendai Framework, 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Paris climate agreement and New Urban Agenda (Habitat III), health is recognised as a cross-cutting outcome and a shared goal of disaster risk reduction (DRR). The broad intersection of health and disaster risk reduction is captured in the concept of Health-related Emergency and Disaster Risk Management (H-EDRM). Health-EDRM encompasses emergency and disaster medicine, DRR, community health resilience, health system resilience and impact of changing climate on health. Health-EDRM involves the systematic analysis and management of health risks in emergencies and disasters by reducing the health risks and vulnerability.

This upcoming 2-day research summit is organized by Collaborating Centre for Oxford University and CUHK for Disaster and Medical Humanitarian Response (CCOUC) in collaboration with WHO Thematic Platform for Health Emergency & Disaster Risk Management Research Network. It aims to bring together researchers and experts to share knowledge and experience in collaborative efforts to promote research activities and practice in Health-related Emergency and Disaster Risk Management.

The overall theme of the research summit is "Partnership in Action". We are pleased to have prestigious speakers from international health agent, policy making organisation, research institutes and medical journal to share their insights and experience with us.  The details of the research summit can be found below.:

Calling for Interactive Research Showcase 

It is an exciting opportunity for young researchers to present ongoing or completed research to a wide audience. It seeks to enhance research community, generate research interests and collaboration opportunities. Presenters will be given a maximum of 10mins to share their research in an open format (ppt, poster, video, etc.). 

 

Fees

The programme is free-of-charge.

 

Visa

Participants are required to arrange their own entry visa to Hong Kong and bear related expenses. Please refer to the Hong Kong Immigration Department website for details: http://www.immd.gov.hk/eng/forms/hk-visas/visit-transit.html. Upon request, CCOUC will provide necessary document in support to visa application.

Travel subsidy

Oversea participants are expected to cover their own travel expenses. A very limited amount of travel subsidy may be provided to applicants with strong financial needs. Application shall be submitted through the online registration link.
