Sharing the Latest Findings of Climate Impact on Public Health at the Climate Change Forum: Overview of Latest Scientific Findings of IPCC AR5 Report
The Hong Kong Observatory and World Green Organisation jointly organised a "Climate Change Forum: Overview of Latest Scientific Findings of IPCC AR5 Report" on 15th October, 2013 at the City University of Hong Kong. CCOUC, as one of the co-organisers, was invited to share the latest findings of climate impact on public health at the forum. Prof. Emily Chan, the centre director of CCOUC, had given a talk about climate impact and public health, followed by a panel discussion at the end of the forum. Topics discussed include CCOUC’s recent studies on climate change, mitigation and adaption strategies, behavioral studies and health modeling, as well as some effective solutions for climate change impacts. We highlighted that the overall self-efficacy level towards climate change and health remain low in the community. Interventions to reduce knowledge gaps in the community’s understanding of the health impact of climate change are needed for developing suitable strategies and individual behaviours against climate change impact on human health.
