CCOUC team attended the 3rd Annual Conference of the Chinese Society of Disaster Medicine held in Shanghai from 24 to 25 October 2015. This year’s theme is disaster response and management in urban settings. CCOUC Director Professor Emily Chan was invited to chair the keynote session.
As a result of the rapid economic growth and urbanisation in the last three decades, China is now confronted with new challenges associated with industrial & transportation accidents, mass gathering and terrorism, which have caused heavy casualties in recent years. The conference provided a unique platform for local and international experts to share their experience and to discuss relevant strategies to response and mitigate the impact of disasters.
