CCOUC is actively working with NGOs in local communities of China, including organising train-the-trainer programmes with and for community NGO partners since 2011. Trainings were conducted in Guangxi and Yunnan Provinces in the past, aiming at strengthening NGOs’ capacity to develop their own disaster mitigation programmes and to facilitate community initiatives. These trainings also encourage networking and sharing of information among local NGOs. The programmes use a cascading model to impart state-of-the-art knowledge and skills by training NGO workers who can further train members in the communities.
