Site Selection Trip: Lushui City, Nujiang Lisu Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province
CCOUC Director Professor Emily Chan led a five-person exploration team to conduct health needs assessment for the future health education activities in Xinjian Village, Shangjiang Town and Xiaoshaba Village, Luku Town of the Lushui City of Nujiang Lisu Autonomous Prefecture from 9 to 13 January 2019.
The objectives of this trip include assessing the possibility of deploying health emergency and disaster risk management training for the Ethnic Minority Health Project in the year 2019-2020, as well as conducting face-to-face discussion with the local partners regarding the application of technology for knowledge transfer in the future.
In addition, the team arranged interviews with some local households, the village heads and the village doctors. The visits to the local health centres and households have allowed the team to gain a better understanding of the emerging health needs and topics of interest amongst villagers to prepare for the health intervention trip in June 2019. The interviews found that villagers’ major concerns include waste management and the prevention of communicable diseases.
